Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been jailed in connection with burglaries in Slough.
Owen Piggot, aged 24, of Norman Crescent, Hounslow, was sentenced to two years and two months’ imprisonment following a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on 20 January.
In the same hearing, Piggot pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary dwelling.
On 2 June last year, at around 7.05pm at a property on London Road in Slough, the victim, who was away on holiday at the time, received a message from their neighbour stating the back door to their property had been forced open.
The victim returned from holiday the following day and discovered that the electric cupboard had been damaged, the back door panel had been removed and a messy search had been carried out upstairs.
Piggot had stolen a quantity of cash and some jewellery worth around £350.
On 12 June last year on Ives Road in Slough, the victim returned home at around 6pm and discovered that the door to the rear of their property had been damaged and a messy search had been carried out at the property.
Piggot had stolen a large quantity of cash, and an assortment of necklaces, earrings and rings worth £200.
Piggot was arrested and charged on 22 September last year.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Sikander Channa said: “Burglary is a serious acquisitive crime that greatly affects our communities and can have a lasting impact on victims.
“I’m glad that Thames Valley Police we able to provide some closure for the victims and give our local communities reassurance that we are committed to tackling such crime.
“This conviction and sentence reflects the severity and seriousness with which these offences are taken, and is a warning that these type of offences will not be tolerated.”
