Thames Valley Police is appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Oxford.

Police were called at about 6.35pm on Monday (26/2) after a man was found with serious facial injuries in Cuddesdon Way, Blackbird Leys, having been assaulted in Haldane Road.

The 38-year-old victim had sustained severe lacerations to his face and head and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital. He was later discharged.

The offender was described as a white man in his twenties or thirties.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Anneliese Palfrey, of Force CID at Oxford, said: “This was a serious assault in which the victim sustained severe lacerations and required hospital treatment.

“There would have been a number of people in the area at the time and some members of the public came to the aid of the victim.

“We are asking any witnesses who have not already been in touch, or anyone else with information that could help our investigation, to contact the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101, quoting reference 43180061285.”

 A 29-year-old man from Oxford was arrested on suspicion of GBH and released under investigation.
