Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault outside John Madejski Academy in Reading.

Between 7.30pm and 8pm on Monday 10 July, eight young boys were on the footpath outside the gates to the John Madejski Academy, having just finished playing football, when a man on a mountain bike came riding down the footpath in the direction of Hartland Road.

The offender shouted at the boys to move before stopping. He then put his bike down and approached the boys before assaulting two of them. He then got back on his bike and rode away in the direction of Hartland Road.

The offender is black, between 35 to 40-years-old, around 5ft 10in tall and of medium build. He was wearing blue jeans, grey jumper, black baseball cap and white, grey and black Nike Air Max trainers. He was riding a blue Apollo mountain bike.

Investigating officer, PC Scott Whiteside from Reading Police Station said: “This was a nasty attack and it was fortunate the victims were not seriously injured however they were both understandably distressed by the incident.

“We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident. If anyone has any information please call Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting incident reference 43170203203 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”
