Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an attempted ram raid in Wokingham.

At around 3am on Wednesday (28/2) a group attempted to steal an ATM from the Waitrose in Rectory Road, Wokingham.

The offenders used a black Porsche Cayenne in an attempt to remove the cash machine.

The offenders fled the scene empty handed.

Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Mike Bettington, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to come forward who might have seen this incident take place or any suspicious activity involving a Porsche Cayenne over the days in the lead up to the incident.

“Crime scene investigators and detectives have now completed their initial enquiries at the scene and the store remains open for business as usual.

“The offenders did not get away with any cash and the vehicle has now been recovered by police. Enquiries are ongoing to identify and locate those responsible."
