The Community Policing Awards take place at an annual ceremony at a venue in Berkshire.
The event is now in its 23rd year and provides an opportunity for member of the public, partner agencies and our force to nominate the work of officers, staff and volunteers who have made the greatest contribution to their communities over the past year.
These nominations will be collated and sifted down to a shortlist before they are put to a panel of judges who will make the final decision on who the community champions are.
Nominations for this year have now closed, winners will be announced after the ceremony in the Autumn.
This year there are nine categories:
Community Officer 2024
This award is for an officer who has made an exceptional difference to their local community. Nominations should include evidence of their ability to tackle community issues, defuse tensions and encourage positive engagement.
Police Community Support Officer 2024
This award is for a PCSO who has made an outstanding contribution to their local community. Nominations should include examples of their work with different members of the community to resolve issues and build relations and trust. They should encourage engagement with the police in an effort to build the bridge between the force and public and they should work well with colleagues and partners.
Special Constable 2024
This award is for a member of the Special Constabulary who has gone above and beyond to serve their community. Nominations should include examples of how they have helped their local community, worked with the public and colleagues to assist in easing community tensions or solving issues.
Diversity and Inclusion Champion 2024
This award is for someone who strives to improve engagement with seldom heard communities. Nominations should include how they have worked towards improving diversity and inclusion, whilst making efforts to improve accessibility between the force and public.
Cadet 2024
This award is for the young, dedicated volunteer who wants to make a difference in their community. Nominations should include evidence of how they support their fellow cadets, show initiative and are an advocate for the force.
Volunteer 2024
This award is for volunteers who actively support the police force, giving their time, own ideas and suggestions in order to improve how we work.
Community Volunteer 2024
This award is for volunteers who are not employed by Thames Valley Police but who work to support the community they work and/or live within. Nominations should include how they assist with community concerns, work within the community to offer advice and create a safer more welcoming environment.
Problem Solving and Prevention Award 2024
This award is for an individual or team who have worked collectively to problem solve or prevent a community issue. Nominations should include evidence of their work to make a real difference to their communities. This award can be presented to partners, third sector and community members, as well as police staff and police officers across all departments.
Inspirational Leadership 2024
This award is for an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership within the force and the community. Nominations should include examples of how they have acted with integrity, positively influencing and motivating their colleagues and the public.
