John Barlow
Chair, Strategic Independent Advisory Group, Thames Valley Police
John Barlow is currently Chair of the Strategic Independent Advisory Group (SIAG) and previously had the same role with the Stop and Search Group. He has been a volunteer with Thames Valley Police for ten years and is also a member of the Complaints, Integrity and Ethics Panel funded jointly by the Chief Constable and Police & Crime Commissioner.
John spent most of his working life with the BBC as a Cameraman/Head of TV Cameras and eventually became Head of BBC Film Unit. After early retirement he made films for various charities and became active in the local community as Chairman of the Wycombe Race Equality Council. He currently serves as a lay member of the Thames Valley Crown Prosecution Service Improvement Panel.
He is a Founder member of the Institute for Training in Television Production, a Fellow of the Guild of Television Cameramen and was Treasurer of the Oxford Unitarian Chapel Society based at Harris Manchester College, Oxford.
Living in Marlow Bottom, with his wife Laura of thirty-five years, his two children have followed employment to London and Aylesbury. He recently retired after twenty years as a Governor at the John Hampden Grammar School and enjoys films (of course), woodwork and art exhibitions.
