Following an investigation by the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, a man has been sentenced to prison for murder in Reading.
Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a man has been jailed for multiple domestic abuse offences in Reading.
A targeted operation in Reading town centre, which has won the Thames Valley Police 2026 Laycock Award, is delivering significant reductions in crime, catching the offenders who drive the problem and reducing the impact on shop staff, businesses and the wider community.
At 11 am on Thursday, the 23rd of April 2026, the Police Memorial Trust formally unveiled a specially commissioned memorial stone dedicated to the memory of Police Constable Andrew Harper of Thames Valley Police.
Drug dealing/ASB is taking place at all times of the day in and around CARSDALE CLOSE and LAUD CLOSE. This is mainly taking place in public and is occurring throughout the day. TVP are liaising with partner agencies to identify issues and take action.

Working with STRONGHOLD (drugs team) to build up a profile of users and dealers.. Also working with the housing association around the individual drug users living in the area. Patrols of the area and looking at partial Closure Order in LAUD CLOSE where ASB is most prolific.
Have liaised with STRONGHOLD which resulted in the arrest of 2 males for PWITS.
CCTV has been erected in the footpath on SHEEPSLANE where dealing has been taking place. Working withy RBC to get a gate put in place to stop users congregating in waste land area.
A closure Order has been applied for at a local address on WENSLEY RD where residents have been complaining about local drug users attending
Acting on information provided by local residents 2 further Misuse of Drugs warrants were executed at local addresses. This resulted in the arrest of 3 persons. 1 was released no further action whilst the other two are currently on remand awaiting trial.
An extension was granted for another 3 months at a Closure Order following the arrest and seizure of a large quantity of drugs. Two people are currently on bail for this offence.
Following intelligence supplied by residents another male was arrested by the STRONGHOLD team after liaising with NHPT.
2 X further arrests have been made by the drug team- both offenders released on bail. These arrests were made following information supplied by residents.
Continued patrols of the area and visiting known addresses of drug users/ASB.

ASB is being caused by drug users in a residential area that houses mainly older people and young families. The users are meeting up and dropping litter, urinating whilst waiting to be dealt to.
The area is a natural cut through with lots of areas that are out of sight. a couple of related bike thefts have occurred.

Have been working closely with residents after they reported ASB where drug users are congregating and 2 x related bike thefts have occurred. Further work to be done around trying to identify the users and the dealer. Working alongside the drug team (STRONGHOLD) & HRU(HARM REDUCTION TEAM). Patrols of the area

They are then causing criminal damage to fittings, doors. They are leaving lots of rubbish around, using the areas as a toilet.
1 male is masturbating whist sleeping rough which has been witnessed by a tenant.

We have liaised with the relevant housing associations to get the doors secured securely. However one of the doors needs to be totally replaced so building is vulnerable until then. Regular visits by NHPT are taking place. Crime prevention advice has been given.
Investigating the cctv at this point to see if we can identify the rough sleepers and male masturbating.
Once the rough sleepers have been identified they will be issued with CPW or arrested depending on the evidence from the cctv.
New cctv has been erected in one of the flats following a crime prevention meeting with NHPT.
Following a meeting with the NHPT the communal door has been replaced and no further rough sleepers.
Unfortunately they have moved onto to another block-BOURNE STEVENS CLOSE. The relevant housing association have been informed and waiting for a date for a crime prevention meeting.
Have worked closely with housing association and all the doors to the flats have been fixed in the South Street addresses. The housing association for Bourne Stevens have had all the areas cleaned are waiting for the doors to be repaired. Continued with patrols in the area.
