  • Priority:

The Thatcham Neighbourhood Policing Team has received repeated reports of anti-social behaviour involving cars and motorcycles at Henwick Worthy Sports Field, particularly within and around the car park area.
Concerns raised by residents include excessive noise from engine revving, dangerous riding and driving, and vehicles being used in a manner that causes nuisance and alarm to others. The frequency of these incidents has impacted the enjoyment of the area by members of the public and affected the quality of life of nearby residents.
Addressing this behaviour remains a priority for the Neighbourhood Policing Team in order to reduce anti-social behaviour, improve community confidence and ensure the area remains safe and accessible for legitimate users.

    Issued 29 June 2026

    Action taken:

The Thatcham Neighbourhood Policing Team has continued to undertake both high-visibility and plain-clothes patrols at Henwick Worthy Sports Field and surrounding locations in response to reports received from the public. These patrols form part of an ongoing problem-solving approach aimed at identifying those responsible and preventing further incidents.

Additional signage has been installed within the area to act as a deterrent and to make users aware of the consequences of anti-social use of motor vehicles. Officers have also carried out a number of targeted visits and door-to-door enquiries where individuals have been identified as being linked to reported incidents.

Several Section 59 warnings and seizure notices have been issued to riders and drivers whose behaviour has caused alarm, distress or nuisance. Officers have engaged directly with a number of individuals, providing advice and warnings regarding their conduct and making clear that continued offending may result in vehicles being seized. A number of vehicle seizures have also been completed where the relevant thresholds have been met.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work closely with local residents and partner agencies, reviewing reports and intelligence to identify repeat offenders and emerging trends. Community information remains vital in supporting enforcement activity, and residents are encouraged to continue reporting incidents so that appropriate action can be taken.
Patrols and monitoring of the area remain ongoing, with officers maintaining a visible presence to provide reassurance, deter offending and respond to concerns raised by the local community.

  • Priority:

The Thatcham Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to receive reports of suspected drug-related activity across a number of locations within the town. Concerns remain focused on areas identified by local residents, including residential streets, alleyways and communal open spaces.

Drug-related offending continues to have a wider impact on the community, contributing to anti-social behaviour, vulnerability and safeguarding concerns. The Neighbourhood Policing Team remains committed to disrupting those involved in criminality, identifying vulnerable individuals and working with partner agencies to reduce harm within the community.

    Issued 29 June 2026

    Action taken:

The Thatcham Neighbourhood Policing Team has continued to undertake a mixture of high-visibility and plain-clothes patrol activity in response to community concerns regarding drug-related offending. This work has been supported by intelligence-led deployments involving the Force Intelligence Hub, local proactive teams and other policing resources.

During this period, several arrests have been made as a result of targeted operations and proactive patrols within identified hotspot locations. Officers have continued to gather intelligence, conduct stop searches where grounds exist and pursue enforcement opportunities against those suspected of being involved in the supply and use of controlled drugs.

The team continues to work closely with the Force Intelligence Hub and partner agencies to develop intelligence, identify offenders and consider further enforcement options where appropriate. Community information remains central to this work and residents are encouraged to continue reporting concerns and submitting intelligence through the appropriate channels.
Police activity in this area remains ongoing, with regular reviews of reported incidents, intelligence submissions and local concerns to ensure resources are directed where they can have the greatest impact in reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and associated harm within the Thatcham community.

  • Priority:

The Thatcham Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work with local retailers to address recurring shoplifting offences across the town. Reports indicate that a number of repeat offenders are responsible for a disproportionate amount of theft-related offending, often targeting multiple stores over sustained periods.
The impact of this offending extends beyond financial loss, affecting staff welfare, customer confidence and the wider perception of safety within the local community. The Neighbourhood Policing Team remains committed to identifying offenders, gathering evidence and pursuing appropriate enforcement opportunities to reduce repeat offending and protect local businesses.

    Issued 29 June 2026

    Action taken:

The Thatcham Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work closely with local retailers, security staff and partner agencies to identify those responsible for repeat shoplifting offences. Officers regularly review CCTV footage, witness evidence and intelligence submissions to support investigations and build evidential packages against known offenders.

Where offenders have been identified, arrests have been made and files prepared for charging decisions where appropriate. The team continues to focus on those individuals responsible for the greatest level of harm and offending within the retail environment, with the aim of reducing repeat victimisation of local businesses.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team is additionally pursuing a number of preventative and enforcement measures, including applications for Criminal Behaviour Orders against prolific offenders. These orders are designed to place restrictions on individuals whose offending behaviour continues to have a detrimental impact on local retailers and the wider community.

In cases where offending is linked to wider criminality, including drug misuse, anti-social behaviour or addresses associated with persistent criminal activity, officers are working with partner agencies and the courts to consider further interventions. This includes the use of warrants, enforcement action and, where appropriate, closure order applications for premises linked to ongoing criminality and community harm.

Work to tackle shoplifting remains an ongoing priority, with regular engagement taking place between the Neighbourhood Policing Team and local businesses to ensure intelligence is shared, offenders are identified promptly and effective action is taken to reduce offending and improve confidence within the retail community.
