Our recent Neighbourhood Policing Priorities Survey highlighted burglary as one of the primary concern for Missenden area residents. In response, burglary prevention and investigation will continue to remain a key priority for the team

The Neighbourhood Team plays a key role in tackling burglary through proactive patrols and targeted activity in areas experiencing recent offences. When trends or patterns in burglary are identified, officers concentrate their patrols in affected locations to deter criminal activity, gather intelligence, and provide reassurance to local residents.

In the event of a burglary, the Neighbourhood Team is responsible for carrying out cocooning visits. These visits involve speaking with neighbouring households to offer tailored crime prevention advice, increase awareness of recent incidents, and help reduce the likelihood of further offences occurring nearby.

Although burglary investigations are generally led by specialist detectives, neighbourhood officers continue to play an important supporting role. This includes attending incidents, conducting initial enquiries, identifying investigative opportunities, and providing assistance and reassurance to victims. Their patrol activity is focused on areas assessed as being at greater risk, helping to prevent crime, disrupt offending, and strengthen public confidence in local policing.

Neighbourhood officers also participate in joint cross-border initiatives such as Operation Pandilla. These operations bring together officers from neighbouring police forces to target travelling criminals and disrupt individuals who enter the area intending to commit offences. Through intelligence sharing and coordinated enforcement activity, these operations help prevent crime, identify offenders, and enhance community safety. Further operations are currently being developed as part of the forthcoming winter burglary prevention campaign.

In addition to patrol and enforcement work, the team regularly delivers Have Your Say events across the community. These engagement sessions are usually led by Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), often alongside Police Constables, at locations such as town centres, shopping areas, and other community venues.

The events provide an opportunity for residents to speak directly with local policing teams, obtain crime prevention advice, discuss concerns, and raise issues affecting their neighbourhoods. They also enable officers to gather community feedback and understand local priorities, ensuring policing activity remains responsive to the needs of residents.

Our recent Neighbourhood Priorities Survey revealed that the majority of Missenden residents consider Anti-Social behaviour to be one of the key issues they want their local neighbourhood team to address. In response, we continue to carry out targeted activity across the area to reduce and prevent Anti-Social behaviour. This remains a standing priority for the team.

The Neighbourhood Team dedicates a significant amount of time to supporting residents and addressing a wide range of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) concerns across the Missendens. These can include ongoing noise nuisance, neighbour disputes, reports of cannabis use or related smells, littering, criminal damage, harassment, and incidents motivated by hate. Whatever the nature of the concern, officers aim to understand the circumstances, engage with all parties involved, and work towards a fair, proportionate, and lasting resolution.

A large proportion of reported incidents are categorised as personal ASB, often involving disputes between neighbours or individuals that have developed over time. These issues can have a significant impact on those involved and, in many cases, require a coordinated approach. The Neighbourhood Team works closely with residents, local authorities, and partner agencies to manage risk, provide advice, and identify appropriate long-term solutions.

Where anti-social behaviour crosses the threshold into criminality, neighbourhood officers will carry out full investigations. While some incidents can be resolved through early intervention, words of advice, or low-level enforcement, others require more extensive evidence gathering, victim support, and partnership working.

Officers continue to conduct regular patrols in the Wrights Lane and Hazel Road areas of Prestwood in response to ongoing concerns raised by residents. Many reports relate to neighbour disputes and incidents occurring between neighbouring households, and the team remains committed to working with those involved to reduce tensions and prevent further issues.

In addition, officers are currently investigating reports of targeted anti-social behaviour directed towards a resident and their property in the Missendens area. This type of behaviour can have a significant impact on victims, and the team is committed to pursuing all available lines of enquiry while ensuring those affected receive appropriate support and safeguarding throughout the investigation.

Where individuals responsible for persistent anti-social behaviour are identified, officers will take firm, fair, and proportionate action. This may include warning letters, Acceptable Behaviour Agreements, Community Protection Warnings, or the use of more robust enforcement powers where necessary. Our focus remains on preventing further incidents, protecting victims, and maintaining a safe environment for everyone in the community.

Through visible patrols, community engagement, and close partnership working, the Neighbourhood Team remains committed to tackling anti-social behaviour and responding to the concerns that matter most to residents across the Missendens.

Our recent Neighbourhood Policing Priorities Survey showed that speeding is the highest concern for residents in the Missendens jointly with ASB. In the Missenden area, this continues to be a priority for the neighbourhood team, and we remain focused on addressing speeding through regular patrols, engagement and targeted enforcement.

The Neighbourhood Team carries out regular speed checks and enforcement across the area using roadside speed detection equipment to deter offending and take action where necessary. Drivers found exceeding the limit may be issued with tickets, and our visible presence alone often encourages motorists to reduce their speed. While enforcement activity is less frequent during the winter months, this increases as we move into spring and summer, with dedicated enforcement days already planned.

Tackling speeding effectively requires a joined‑up approach. Changing driver behaviour and attitudes takes time, and we work closely with partner agencies and the community to make speeding socially unacceptable. We are also aware that speeding concerns are often linked to anti-social driving, including excessive vehicle noise and reckless driving, particularly during late-night hours in Chesham and the Missendens. These incidents can have a significant impact on local residents. Where clear footage and vehicle registration details are provided, officers can issue Section 59 warnings, allowing for more robust enforcement action should the behaviour continue. We encourage residents to report incidents directly to the police rather than relying solely on social media.
