Drugs - possession of and drug dealing - Banbury Town Centre and surrounding estates.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to actively respond to concerns raised by residents in relation to drug use and suspected drug dealing within the local area. Engagement with the community remains a key part of this work, and officers have been speaking regularly with residents and businesses to gather information and provide reassurance.
Targeted, intelligence - led patrols have been conducted in identified areas of concern. As a result, a number of stop searches have been carried out in line with legislative powers and force policy. These searches have led to the seizure of both Class A and Class B controlled drugs, with offenders dealt with appropriately through the criminal justice process.
The team continues to work closely with specialist departments and partner agencies to share information, disrupt drug-related criminality and identify individuals involved in the supply of drugs. Where appropriate, safeguarding considerations and referral pathways are also used to support vulnerable individuals encountered during this activity.
Tackling drug-related harm remains a priority for the Neighbourhood Policing Team. This work is ongoing, and further updates will be provided in the coming months as patrol activity and enforcement continues.

Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) - to include E-scooters (Grimsbury / Town Centre) and ASB from street drinkers in the Town Centre

The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to address Anti - Social Behaviour (ASB) across the area, working closely with partner agencies including Housing Providers, Local Authorities and Youth Services to identify repeat locations and individuals of concern.
Targeted high - visibility patrols have been carried out in identified hotspot areas, particularly during peak times when incidents are more likely to occur. These patrols are aimed at providing reassurance to residents, disrupting ASB, and gathering intelligence to support further action where required.
Where appropriate, officers and PCSOs have taken proportionate enforcement action, made referrals to partner agencies, and utilised early intervention approaches to prevent escalation. Ongoing issues are monitored through regular tasking and partnership meetings to ensure a joined - up approach.
Residents are encouraged to continue reporting incidents of ASB, as this information is essential in identifying trends, prioritising patrol activity and supporting longer - term problem - solving plans.

Speeding / Traffic Offences
Speeding / traffic related offences will remain a priority for the area, as agreed at a Community Forum on the 5th March 2025.

Between January, February and March, Fixed and Mobile Safety Cameras recorded over 900 traffic offences. All offences have been processed by the Fixed Penalty Unit.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to work in partnership with Roads Policing colleagues on Operation Scalis, an initiative funded by the Motor Insurance Bureau. The operation primarily targets uninsured drivers, while also allowing officers to detect and deal with a wider range of road traffic offences. Our next joint day of action with Roads Policing is scheduled for November.
In addition to these planned operations, your local Neighbourhood Policing Team continues to carry out routine patrols and will take action against traffic offences as they are identified. The most common issues currently being encountered include the illegal use of e - scooters and mobile phone use whilst driving.
The team has also recently been equipped with a new speed camera, enabling us to carry out local speed enforcement activity on a weekly basis, where resources allow.
It should be noted that enforcing speeding offences requires the use of specially calibrated equipment to ensure accuracy. In appropriate circumstances, poor driving behaviour may also be addressed under the offence of driving without due care and attention.
