E-Bikes in Oxford City Centre, and regular bikes, specifically Cornmarket Street and Queen Street are still being reported as riding too fast and causing a danger to members of the public, as well as disobeying local signage
Issued 07 May 2026
In April, our colleagues from Roads Policing and Neighbourhood Policing teams across the area have seized over 20 e-bikes from delivery riders. This has seen vast reduction int he use of the bikes in the city centre. Regarding cyclists generally, we have also issued a number of enforcement tickets and engaged with over 50 cyclists regards local regulations. Cyclists continue to be a local issue and will remain as a local priority.

There is an issue of Street drinking, noise nuisance and general anti-social behaviour at BONN SQUARE, OXFORD. We have seen reduction in the past few weeks but as the weather is improving we are seeing a continuation of local issues
Issued 07 May 2026
This issue has persisted over the last month and we have continued to see, albeit declining, localised alcohol related anti-social behaviour at the location. We have made 6 arrests regards local issue, engaged with people drinking at the location and utilising the Public Spaces Protection Order have seized and disposed of over 20 containers of alcohol. We are working with the local authority to review the location to identify suitable target hardening and long term reduction methods. We have achieved a number of charges and outcomes for relevant offences. Local feedback suggests that the issue is improving but that there is still work to do. We anticipate, given improving weather and longer days, that this issue will take some time yet to resolve and as such it will remain a focus for the team.

We have received reports from local residents regards concerns of people riding e-bikes inconsiderately in the area of Hinksey Park and around Whitehouse Road and the adjacent River Banks, particularly around end of school times. It is unclear at this stage of these are legal or illegal e-bikes
Issued 09 April 2026
We will patrol the areas concerned and seek to identify persons involved and the legality of their bikes. If the bikes do not conform with government regulations they will be seized accordingly. If the bikes are compliant with legislation we will issue fixed penalty notices to deter further issues. Progress will be reported on this website
