Your Local Neighbourhood Policing Team
The Neighbourhood Inspector has overall responsibility for the entire neighbourhood policing team of Sergeants, Police Constables, PCSOs and police staff. They are responsible for delivering on neighbourhood policing strategies, directing the deployment of the team and developing relationships with partners and key stakeholders to enable the neighbourhood policing team to work effectively.
This officer is a Constable and takes direction from the Sergeant and they work with the community and other agencies. They are also responsible for tackling those issues as identified by the local community.

While having no power of arrest, the officer can attend incidents, patrol and reassure, tackle ASB and parking issues, and in Thames Valley will be deployed to deliver our Crime Attendance policy of attending to provide follow up support and contact. The Sergeant is next in command and also assists the Inspector. In addition they provide leadership in the development and supervision of the Constables and PCSOs. They too work with the community and other agencies to ensure that the concerns of the community are dealt with by the Neighbourhood Team.

The community has previously raised concerns about cyclists running red lights and e-bikes as part of a city wide concern. Cyclists also not having light illuminated on their bikes as they travel around the city.
Action taken:
In the past couple of months, we have issued fixed penalty notices to cyclists and engaged with riders found running red lights. We are not hearing as much about this as we have in recent months, but given the obvious safety issues associated with this, this will remain an area of focus for us for the future.
Multiple operations have been planned to focus on in this issue and we will work collaboratively with partners and other roads policing to tackle this ongoing issue. -

Local youth from nearby schools being a nuisance outside the retail parade in SUMMERTOWN on BANBURY ROAD, OXFORD generally after school. Behaviours include swearing, shouting, theft from nearby retail stores.
Action taken:
Last academic year we began a program of assemblies in schools to discuss what anti-social behaviour (ASB) was, what it meant and the impact it had on wider society.
We have visited a number of schools across the North Oxford area. We noticed a decline in ASB and have received no further reports accordingly.
Given the new school year, we will keep this open at this time to monitor and keep this from recurring. Assemblies at schools shall be arranged in order to try and tackle this issue as a preventative measure. -

Since the start of this year, we have received reports of, and seen a great increase in, moped and motorbike thefts across Oxford, with North Oxford being one of the worst hit areas. The vehicles taken are believed to be being ridden dangerously locally. This is affecting a number of moped/motorbike owners as well as the wider locality
Action taken:
We have recovered a vast number of stolen motorcycles and arrested 11 persons to date, most of them on multiple occasions.
We have published our results in social media and the local news. We are currently engaged in an ongoing investigation and have started to see a decline in the incidence of local theft, though there is still work to do. This will remain open and we will post updates accordingly.
The investigation has been lead by the Neighbourhood Policing Team for a number of months and this has been very labour intensive. The investigation is now continuing with the Priority Crime Team, and the neighbourhood team will continue to assist with future enquiries.
