Anti-Social Behaviour in Abingdon Precinct, Abbey Meadows, Fairarces
This includes the use of Escooters and Ebikes in the town
Issued 01 November 2026
Anti social behaviour has been highlighted by the residents of Abingdon. The concerns in the Precinct, Abbey Meadows and faire acres relates to groups of youths congregating in large groups and making the shops and people in the town feel intimated by their behaviour, foul lanuage and lack of respect for their surroundings.
The Neighbourhood team have increased their patrols in these areas and are quick to identify the main offenders and if causing ASB or criminality will deal with the situation.
Some of the time, the groups of kids are unaware that when they are in large groups they do make people feel uncomfortable.
The team also do patrols with school teachers at lunch times periods and if any students are causing ASB the teachers help ID them and speak the student and phone their parents.
Escooters are illegal to ride in pulic places, not matter they age of the rider. Please with ideas forming for christmas presents for children and relatives - Do not spend hundreds of pounds on an Escooter. They are only allowed to be used on private land. The Neighbourhood team will seize illegal ebikes and escooters if being used in public places and they will be crushed.
In October in Abingdon town the team seized 6 escooters one costing the rider £400 and he only had it for 3 weeks! In this current financial climate - save your money for other things, not Escooters or illegal ebikes!
