Every neighbourhood in the Thames Valley area has a dedicated neighbourhood policing team that works together with the local community and partners to: reduce crime and incidents, bring more offenders to justice, protect the vulnerable and tackle violence against women and girls and improve victim service and public confidence.
Neighbourhood policing teams are led by senior police officers and include police officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), police staff, police support volunteers and the Special Constabulary.
They aim to make communities safer through an approach that is focussed on visibility, engagement, problem solving and community resilience.
You can receive regular updates on local information and incidents in or around your area by signing up to Thames Valley Alert.
In the recent neighbourhood priorities survey, burglary was highlighted as 1 of the 3 top priorities by local residents. The neighbourhood policing team continue to work on prevention efforts to reduce this offence.
Issued 01 June 2025
The team will carry out their patrols around the area, specifically in location that have received increase reports of burglary that will be established from reviewing crime data and reports. These patrols will be tracked and recorded to ensure all required areas have been covered.
The neighbourhood policing team support their investigative colleagues by supporting victims of any recent burglary. They will carry out a process called "Cocooning" which involves delivering crime prevention advice to affected areas, such as a street where a burglary has taken place, to assist in preventing further victims.
The team also hold regular "Have your say" events, which entail pop up stands dedicated to sharing crime prevention with members of public. Recently neighbourhood PCSOs joined Bucks council to hold one of these events, which can assist in offering additional advice and solutions on how residents can make their homes an unattractive prospect for burglars and keep them as secure as possible.
